Ha! I suspect that's what my sister and I looked like when we made our first political statement: booing Nixon when we passed his local hq when he was running for VP with Ike. We shocked our parents who had no idea we'd picked up political sensibilities that young (we were about four and five).
I had a hairstyle very like the child sticking her tongue out, and my sister had a "mad look" very much like the scowling child in the back.
Mercy!
ReplyDeleteDid that bunch go through their first confession also?
Looks like it didn't take.
If your caption is accurate, Mad Priest, the other girlie in the picture seems to feel you must be up to no good as well.
ReplyDeleteI think that may be a young Elizabeth Kaeton.
ReplyDeleteHow about:
ReplyDelete"Benedict had been expecting a slightly warmer welcome from the British laity."
'the youngsters react to news of the Popes visit...' ;)
ReplyDeleteJonathan, if you were in the congregation when I made my first communion, then you're lying about your age by over half a century.
ReplyDeleteI believe the photo is our friend Fran at There Will Be Bread.
"No, Father, you can't have my lace gloves! Get your own!!"
ReplyDelete"The tealeaves had told her that she'd be a bishop one day"
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine the face MP must have been making back.

[wv, "smsgrabi": a ship where there's plenty of friggin' in the riggin'!]
"F*** the Anglicans, I'm goin' for real persecution!"
ReplyDelete"Elizabeth and Mimi's First Communion. Feisty women are born, not made."
ReplyDeleteYou can make me do this but you cannot make me act like it's OK!
ReplyDeleteFWIW
