Redmont's entire argument hinged on the unexplored assertion "You can't do the Jesus thing alone," which has become a ready-made excuse to cover group sins, and the flawed premise that "church" and "community" are the same thing.
The rather snide attitude of church-goers toward those who eschew any formal religion is as unexamined and self-righteous as any fundamentalist's.
