ROCK 'N' ROLL DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS
Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends and the first post of our brand new LOUD FRIDAY feature. It's all very simple. You just send in your suggestions of tracks that qualify for the description up there in the headline. You can go for the obvious, as I have done today. Or you can be obscure. However, if your choice is too esoteric you may have to send me the mp3 file by email. If you do that, format it at 112kbps, please.
Use the comment box below for your suggestions or email me. Your comments will not be published until your choice is posted.
Bear in mind I will be the final arbiter as to wether your suggestion rocks or not. For example, much as I love them, The Carpenters are not going to get in. There is no appeal.
Oh, and one last thing.
Don't forget to turn the volume switch up to 11.

Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis come to mind. I don't know if they're quite loud enough.
ReplyDeleteOldies but goodies. What the hell! I am old.
They are names of people, not names of tracks. I doubt if Fats Domino was ever loud enough to qualify, but I'm sure you could find a Jerry Lee record that would. But I'm not doing the work for you. You've got to learn to stand on your own two feet. I won't be around forever, you know.
ReplyDeleteJerry Lee Lewis once finished a performance by smashing up his piano and setting it on fire (I read somewhere). I wonder whether that's not quite an early example of that sort of thing? ... It certainly predates all those guitarists who deliberately broke their instrument on stage.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't have time. I'm leaving on a jet plane. You could do John Denver.
ReplyDeleteNo, thank you. He's dead.
ReplyDeleteHe left on a plane too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Boaz.
ReplyDeleteBoaz, that is terrible!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. No worries.
ReplyDeleteThe Carpenters had plenty of appeal! >:-/

It's cliche'd, misogynist, and, oh yeah, cliche'd. It's also THE definition of ROCK.
Whole Lotta Love.
Wait. John Denver is dead??
ReplyDeleteHow about some raunchy garage-band style something?
ReplyDeleteI could only take a little over three minutes of this and that only because I was distracted by something else (yes, here!) for about two of those minutes.

JCF - I agree; always had soft spot for their songs, but they weren't loud, were they, now?
ReplyDeleteHow about some raunchy garage-band style something?
ReplyDeleteSounds good. What do you suggest?
I went to university in Amherst, MA and that's where Dinosaur Jr. started. I've been a fan ever since.
ReplyDeleteGot any?
If they're no loud enough, then Motorhead.
Of course. I've got most of Dinosaur Jr's stuff and all of J. Mascis's solo stuff. But you must choose something.
ReplyDeleteArcade Fire's album "The Suburbs", track 10, Month of May.
