No, course I'm not surprised. But very pleased to see it. He was more beautiful in Spartacus (and I love that scene where Laurence Olivier has a go at wooing him, it's fabulous), but he was never so funny and brilliant as he was in Some Like It Hot.
Shalom indeed. And thanks, MP, for the clip of Tony in "Some Like It Hot" --- one of the most memorable performances in film history, in what's considered the greatest film comedy (from the U.S., at least) of all time.
"sigh"
ReplyDeleteMay he rest in peace and rise in glory.
ReplyDeleteShock. What a gorgeous pic you chose for this post.
ReplyDeleteThe kicker is he was 85 years old!! Very awesome guy.
ReplyDeleteThere was never an ungorgeous pic of Curtis while he was a working actor, Lois.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased you ran something on Tony Curtis and especially that there is a clip of Some Like It Hot to go with it, Mad Priest :-)
ReplyDeletethere is a clip of Some Like It Hot
ReplyDeleteIf you tell me that was a surprise I just won't believe you :-)

ReplyDeleteHe was more beautiful in Spartacus
ReplyDeleteI suppose that depends upon the eye of the beholder.
He was admittedly spectacularly beautiful in Some Like It Hot too and had a damn good pair of legs, quite unfairly.
ReplyDeleteShalom, Tony. Rest in the arms of the Holy One.

ReplyDelete--- Doug ("WearyPilgrim")
what's considered the greatest film comedy (from the U.S., at least) of all time.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't argue with that, Doug. In fact, it's on my profile as one of my favourite films.
Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe. Has any film ever surpassed such eye candy?
