CANADIAN CATHOLIC BISHOPS
STICK TO MISSIONARY POSITION

From THE NATIONAL POST:

Canadian Catholic bishops are cautioning married couples to not get too focused on sexual acts other than intercourse, calling them a potential misuse of sex that ignore God’s intentions.

A pastoral letter released this week by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops calls on married couples to lead “chaste” lives — not meaning “celibate” but approaching sex with “purity of mind as well as body” and respecting the dignity of the other person.

“That is why the sexual act has to be unitive and procreative and why some kinds of activity are not chaste,” the letter said. “Though pleasure may be present, some acts are a misuse of sex when they fall short of what God intended.”

  1. "...some acts are a misuse of sex..."

Well, I guess they should know.

  2. I'm in the mood to be unitive and procreative,

    Simply because you're near me!

Funny, but when you're near me,

I'm in the mood to be unitive and procreative!

  3. Do you think anyone other than satirical blogs take notice of this?

I actually think the bishops aren't going far enough. If we made use of modern technology and used IVF only, we could eliminate the whole dirty pleasure business and be pure and holy for the whole of our lives.
Apart from those awful gays, of course, who never have grasped what sex is for and who are a bad example to us all.

The only way to be really sure would be to use artificial, laboratory-produced sperm. That, or cloning.

  5. Gay men never have abortions. I think the Canadian bishops should give them some credit for that.

I think they want to speed up the numbers game. I'm sure they don't understand why Christian women aren't volunteering for baby duty!!

  8. Perhaps the Canadian Bishops think that "God intended" sex only for the purpose of keeping warm in the North.

And doesn't "respecting the dignity of the other person" necessarily entail not limiting oneself to intercourse alone?

I don't know the answer, but I trust an old celibate man to know the answer.

  14. I suppose by the same reasoning, consumption of dark chocolate is a misuse of eating.
