From THE LANCASHIRE TELEGRAPH:
Burnley's bishop, John Goddard, is appealing for help – after losing his mitre. He misplaced his headwear in one of the dozens of churches he visits in his role for the Diocese of Blackburn.
Although he has several mitres, he said the white one lost is special to him.
“I lost it in one of the many churches I visit and it’s yet to turn up. I am particularly anxious to get this one back as it was used in special services when people are confirmed. I have had it for ten years and I would really like to have it for another ten years."
Although he regularly visits churches in London, he is convinced it is somewhere in Lancashire and has urged anyone with information to come forward.
COMMENT: He's asking people from Lancashire to "come forward with information?" NOT A CHANCE!!!

Judging by the apparent shape of his head in the picture, this man was born to wear the mitre. No wonder he feels unclothed without it.
ReplyDeleteVery true, Charlie. Perhaps he has been wearing it so long the skin on the top of his head has grown over it and it's not missing at all.
ReplyDeleteOh, your headline, MadPriest!!
ReplyDeleteNo MP, he had the same style of head when he was V-P Coates Hall and my personal tutor!
ReplyDeleteIs this to be known as Mitre Gate II? Mitre Gate I was about KJS not being allowed to wear hers. This could be payback time.
ReplyDeleteI do this with umbrellas all the time.
ReplyDeleteBut how many churches does this bloke visit in a day? I mean you go to your cupboard to get your mitre. It's not there. Ipso Facto Dodo...it must be at the last place you were at. It don't take Agatha Christie to work that out!
Happy Birthday, ++KJS!
