A VERY EMPTY GESTURE

  1. At least we now know for what an archdeacon is useful.

If (cf. archbishops) the foot washing service is a once a year requirement to keep the little people in line, then yeah. But for some of the clerics I have known who actually believe in servant ministry, not so much.

Oh, no. These are definitely Church of England bishops, although they are a composite and do not represent all Church of England bishops, one or two of whom are reasonably decent chaps.

  4. Thanks for reminding me that I should clip my toenails before going to Church today...

  5. What's the room in the Shop? Fancy bathroom somewhere? (Where? It almost looks ancient, or liturgical, or something...)

Oh---a blessed Maundy Thursday to all.

  6. It's a Turkish Bath.

OK, I get it now. Those are wash basins on benches, not wash basins on counter tops!

And that is a bench/massage table in the center, not an altar.

At first I thought that you had found a photo of some obscure Christian sect's ritual foot-washing chamber!
