I bought my first collection of Adrienne Rich's poetry over twenty five years ago and I'm a big fan. But I needed to be reminded of this particular stanza by Crystal over at PERSPECTIVE. And, boy, did it buck me up and strengthen my resolve.
My heart is moved by all I cannot save:
So much has been destroyed.
I have to cast my lot with those
Who age after age, perversely,
With no extraordinary power
Re-constitute the world.
