Hey MP! Not only did I grow up in Manly, but as a kid even worked as a Manly Daily paperboy! Who'd have thought that this glorified super-market rag (which is so highly esteemed by residents of a part of Sydney known as "the insular peninsula" that failing to stick a copy in just one letterbox on the route invariably resulted in complaints and threats of dismissal) would one day attain the giddy heights of a post on OCICBW!
In those days the motley group of punks/queers/weirdos to which I belonged never ceased to be amused at how the very conservative community in which we found ourselves trapped was oblivious to the high camp of its name.
Boys, I can tell ya all you need to know. ;-/
