The Prayer List is a daily feature at OCICBW... with an option to light a candle as you pray. If anybody has any concerns they would like included on tomorrow's list please email me with details or leave your request in the comments to this post. I will include relevant photos if provided.
Today is the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Tom and June Butler. There's loads of photos of the happy couple and their tribe posted over at WOUNDED BIRD. Grandmère Mimi also gives a long account of why she thinks they have stayed together so long. Grandpère agrees with her 100% (which is, of course, the real reason they have stayed together so long).

I have a new part time job at Hendry Wines!
It's an amazing coincidence, actually. I went to a tasting and tour with a friend of mine who said, "When I retire, I want to work part time at a winery," and the woman giving the tour said, "Are you available now?" Two weeks later, and voila! I am doing data processing, taking orders, answering the phones, and generally trying to make myself useful and absorb information about wine in the process.

And what makes matters worse, the one thing that could fix the money situation is the one thing I don't want to do. I have a life insurance policy that would pay out enough to take care of all the bills, past and present, AND, it doesn't have a suicide clause (seems suicide is an occupational hazard for us veterans). I ask myself if I'm being selfish, because if I ended it all, it would solve so many things and life, as it were, does go on after someone dies.
So that's the state of where I am now. Nothing spiritual, nothing profound, just a lot of darkness that I can't seem to shake.
You have heard similar sentiments from me in the past. Although all your comments of support have not really helped in any practical way, for reasons I don't understand, they always help me get through the dark times and somehow I'm still alive. I'm not sure I would be without you people being there. So, please, pop over to Hillbilly Musings and just tell our longstanding and good friend that you are out there and that you are with him even though you can't wave a magic wand to sort out all his troubles. (If anyone can wave a magic wand and sort out his problems you better bloody well do it and then start waving it my way. I'll then give you a list of everybody else who could do with some practical help. It's a long list).
I have a nasty viral infection with a side order of the blues. Mrs MP has the same viral infection but has decided on a nasty migraine to go with it. MadPriest Mansion is not a happy place at this precise moment in time.

Please keep D's mom in your thoughts. She was admitted to the hospital this afternoon after some TIAs. I think the world of her and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her right now.

Today's my first cancer check-up since my recurrence in May. I have a positive feeling about it but still can't help having that tiny, nagging voice in the back of my head. I'll just be glad when it's over and I'm on painkillers resting at home.

Heartbroken to hear of the passing of an old friend at the Nation's Triathlon. May you rest in peace, John, and may your family feel God's comfort.
