According to the always accurate LESLEY'S BLOG the diocese of Durham has voted in favour of the Anglican Covenant. It seems the meeting was persuaded to convert to Roman Catholicism by an impassioned speech by the suffragan bishop of the diocese. It's all a bit iffy, if you ask me. The new diocesan bishop takes up his throne in a months time. Couldn't they have waited? Shouldn't they have waited? Especially as the bishop designate has told me personally that he is undecided on the matter.
Fortunately, as an inhibited priest (and along with all the retired priests in the Church of England) nobody can blame me as I am not allowed to vote in any of the democratic processes of the church. This also means that I can condemn without any possibility of being hypocritical in doing so. And I most probably will.
I completely agree with your headline.
