INTRODUCTION

"Angel" - Jimi Hendrix

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
"Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights.

Praise him, all you his angels; praise him, all his host."

Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

We have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to myriads of angels, to God, the judge of all, and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant.  Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.
Lord, have mercy.

Woe is me, for I am lost; I am a person of unclean lips.
Christ, have mercy.

Our guilt is taken away, and our sin is forgiven.
Lord have mercy.

SERMON

We believe in God the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.

We believe in God the Son,
who lives in our hearts through faith, and fills us with his love.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit,
who strengthens us with power from on high.

We believe in God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

THE PEACE

"Christ, The Fair Glory Of The Holy Angels"
- The Choir Of The Abbey School Tewkesbury

Christ, the fair glory of the holy angels,
Thou who hast made us, Thou who o’er us rulest,
Grant of Thy mercy unto us Thy servants
Steps up to Heaven.

Send Thy archangel, Michael, to our succor;
Peacemaker blessèd, may he banish from us
Striving and hatred, so that for the peaceful
All things may prosper.

Send Thy archangel, Gabriel, the mighty;
Herald of Heaven, may he from us mortals
Spurn the old serpent, watching o’er the temples
Where Thou art worshipped.

Send thy archangel, Raphael, the restorer
Of the misguided ways of men who wander,
Who at Thy bidding strengthens soul and body
With Thine anointing.

Father almighty, Son and Holy Spirit,
God ever blessèd, be Thou our Preserver;
Thine is the glory which the angels worship,
Veiling their faces.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFT

The Lord is here.
God's Spirit is with us.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is indeed right and good…
…ageless hymn of your praise:

Holy, holy, holy Lord!  God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!

We ask that your Holy Spirit
… beyond all words can hold.

Great is the mystery of faith.
Christ has died,
Christ is risen,
Christ will come again.

Therefore, in our eating and drinking…
…Mother of blessings, for ever and ever. Amen.

Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.< We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
grant us peace.

This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Blessed are those who are called to his supper.
Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,
but only say the word, and I shall be healed.

Most merciful Lord,  your love compels us to come in. Our hands were unclean, our hearts were unprepared; we were not fit; even to eat the crumbs from under your table. But you, Lord, are the God of our salvation, and share your bread with sinners. So cleanse and feed us with the precious body and blood of your Son, that he may live in us and we in him; and that we, with the whole company of Christ, may sit and eat in your kingdom. Amen.

The body of Christ.

The blood of Christ.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER

"Ye Holy Angels Bright" - The Choir Of Selwyn College

Ye holy angels bright,
who wait at God's right hand,
or through the realms of light
fly at your Lord's command,
assist our song,
for else the theme
too high doth seem
for mortal tongue.

Ye blessed souls at rest,
who ran this earthly race
and now, from sin released,
behold your Saviour's face,
his praises sound,
as in his sight
with sweet delight
ye do abound.

Ye saints, who toil below,
adore your heavenly King,
and onward as ye go
some joyful anthem sing;
take what he gives
and praise him still,
through good or ill,
who ever lives!

My soul, bear thou thy part,
triumph in God above:
and with a well-tuned heart
sing thou the songs of love!
Let all thy days
till life shall end,
whate'er he send,
be filled with praise!

THE BLESSING

My sisters and brothers, go in the peace of Christ.
Thanks be to God.

  1. I grew up in a "St Michael's" parish, and I worship there again now.

I think I might have been creeped out, however, had I been aware of the sort of Popoid dramatics evident by Leo's prayer! O_o
