Sex & God & Rock & Roll
MP, perhaps you could try NOT pouring gasoline on an (ambiguous!) flame? Just a thought.
I don't see why I have to put up with this sort of thing. If it wasn't for the fact that I'd starve if I stopped blogging I'd give it up.
I have a guess about this, but I'm a bit reluctant to say anything right now.
I have never used my position to abuse anybody of any age. I have been 100% faithful to my wife since the day I met her.
Maybe I r Stoopid, but I didn't see his point. So there.
I don't see his point either. I think he was being a bit obtuse. (Well, except that he clearly didn't like the point you were making.)
Yeh, well, I didn't get it when it was originally posted and I still don't get it, after going back and reading it again in context. Don't know who Brian R is nor why he wrote that. Sad.
I've known Brian for five years. This was a complete bolt out of the blue. If he didn't like my questions why call me a hypocrite? Other than reporting a paedophile once I promise you I have had nothing else to do with one. I've never been in a position where I would be even asked to give one a job. Anyway, in England everybody who works with children has to have a criminal records check. I've had three in my professional life all of which came up completely clean - not even a speeding ticket.
Unless Brian weighs in, we won't know what he referred to, but I doubt he meant to suggest that you were either a pedophile or that you are unfaithful to your wife, MadPriest.
Frankly, one of the reasons I like to read the angry one's blog is that he is NOT a hypocrite. Often his missives make me cringe, but on reflection he usually has a valid point and it was my own shortcomings that made me cringe. It WOULD be hypocritical to hold the PB to a different standard than we do Conservative "Primates" or male "Primates". What is about to descend on her is probably unfair but she did choose to wear the fancy hat and make the difficult decisions, and the bitter often follows the sweet. Watching the PB stand mute for so long does leave one questioning her judgement.Reflecting on the PBs reign to date I recall her asking a gay man to go build a school in Tanzania, where he would probably have been murdered if they learned who he was... I remember her asking us to "take a Holiday" from treating GLBTQ Episcopalians as fully human. You know, she has probably been less disposed to be in our corner than Bishop Griswold was... I remember that it was Clinton who demagogued and betrayed us with DOMA -- AFTER we helped him into office. At least the Conservatives are honest about it.Oh well, I'm rambling. My point is I know who the hypocrites are and Father Jonathan is not to be found among them.--Wade
The only thing I was able to piece together from that short insult was that he might be comparing your campaign to allow priests with mental illnesses to continue to serve but it is comparing apples to oranges to liken someone with depression to a person with Parry's illness.(the other Brian)
Yes I was thinking the same thing as the other Brian.
I guess Brian R assumes that ALL mentally ill people should be grouped together, regardless of what their mental illness means - be it OCD or depression or food phobias or fear of dogs or fear of heights, yada yada (you get the idea) or a predilection for underage boys. Admittedly the fact that he'd deliver such an insult without even bothering to explain further says a lot more about him than it says about you, Jonathan. As you already know. The most it says about you is that you have made an impact. You pissed someone off. Good. You're doing your job. You got him to react, and show his "true colors" as it were. Keep up the good work, says I. The more people attack you, I should think the more other people are going to want to know what it is the attacker is so angry about, so they'll march right over here and start reading and go "oh wow, this guy is actually really cool." I'm just sayin'. But of course, I'm just a dingbat redhead, so what do I know?
And it's only too easy to fire back a return volley, something along the lines of "you fecking judgmental hypocrite yourself - how's that forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil workin' out for ya? Pretty tasty, is it? Much away, ya schmendrick. May you choke on it. I'll see you in Hell."Or something like that.
Hi,I copied your post and have asked if (name) can find out whether the case was considered in the Historic Cases Review (of allegations of child abuse) which concluded in Feb 2011.I can't do any more than that... but at least it will ask that question.
"The most it says about you is that you have made an impact. You pissed someone off. Good. You're doing your job. You got him to react, and show his "true colors" as it were. "Keep up the good work, says I."I like the way you put this, Trace. So says I, as well!!Oh, I really like this, too:"Frankly, one of the reasons I like to read the angry one's blog is that he is NOT a hypocrite. Often his missives make me cringe, but on reflection he usually has a valid point and it was my own shortcomings that made me cringe."Thanks, Wade.
