Sex & God & Rock & Roll
Heh, I just wrestled w/ this on the thread below...
You don't know what Jesus would have done anyway. You might possibly know what the author of one of the Gospels portrayed him as doing in a comparable situation, but most likely you only know what you imagine Jesus as you, or your church, interpret him might have done. That's very far from being the same thing.
Well, it's possible that Jesus never existed, Robert, and the gospel writers made everything up. But whether real or invented the character of Jesus in the synoptic gospels was interested in only a few, big ideas that are very obvious. Although you cannot say whether or not he would take milk with his coffee if he was alive today, you can be absolutely certain what he would think about wealth, charity, showy religious practices, hypocrisy, and putting the law before compassion. If you don't believe me, read the three gospels I cite.
Our Lord absolutely WOULD take milk (half&half!) in his coffee, heretic! ;-p
I keep telling you, give me enough skilled tacticians for my retainers, enough troops, and I'll show you what I'm willing to do. No one's willing to join a warlord, these days.
Oh, JCF!LOL !!
Right you are, Mark. The world is just going to hell in a handbasket these days....
It is really the wrong question. It should not be "What would Jesus do?" but rather, "What would Jesus have me do?" I am not incarnate God, I am not called to redeem the whole world. I am called to become what I am capable of being, and seek to contribute to the ongoing work of redemption.FWIWjimB
Give him a chance. Even with someone as shaky and awful as me. Scary prospect.
MP, what I hoped you were not only prepared to do, but actually HAD done, was EXCORIATE the "Gaystapo" piece written by that @sshole Alan Craig.Tomorrow?
