UNNATURAL THEOLOGY

THE VATICAN MAP OF EUROPE

Dan posted this on Facebook. I think it's great although I notice one mistake. I think Ireland has now been downrated to "Previously Our Britain." After the recent misunderstanding over what constitutes acceptable catechistic instruction and the closing of the Irish embassy in the Papal State I believe our Irish brothers and sisters are now bastards like us.

GUMBY OF THE DAY

From "The Boston Pilot" (28th. October 2011):

No one has found a “gay gene.” Identical twins are always, of course, the same sex, providing further proof of male and female genes. If there was a gay gene, then when one twin exhibits same-sex attraction, his or her identical sibling should too. But that is not the case. The incidence of finding identical twins with identical same-sex attraction is relatively rare and certainly not anywhere near one hundred percent. Something other than the hardwiring found in the genetic code must explain the variance...

...In other words, the scientific evidence of how same-sex attraction most likely may be created provides a credible basis for a spiritual explanation that indicts the devil. Any time natural disasters occur, we as people of faith look back to Scripture’s account of those angels who rebelled and fell from grace. In their anger against God, these malcontents prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. They continue to do all they can to mar, distort and destroy God’s handiwork. Therefore, whenever natural causes disturb otherwise typical biological development, leading to the personally unchosen beginnings of same-sex attraction, the ultimate responsibility, on a theological level, is and should be imputed to the evil one, not God. Applying this aspect of Catholic belief to interpret the scientific data makes more sense because it does not place God in the awkward position of blessing two mutually incompatible realities — sexual difference and same-sex attraction. (Daniel Avila)

COMMENT: Well, the devil might explain KJ's behaviour but, to be honest, I tend to find the nuns I know to be far more wicked than the gay people I know - and no devil is going to go anywhere near a nun (demons are far too sensible to risk it).

But there is good news. Public opinion in the US is definitely swinging towards an anti-homophobic stance to such an extent that the Roman Catholic Church is having to bear it in mind.

From THE BOSTON PILOT (today):

A policy adviser to the U.S. bishops has resigned following a controversy over an opinion piece he wrote suggesting that same-sex attraction could be the work of the devil. Daniel Avila, policy adviser for marriage and family to the U.S. bishops' Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage since June 20, offered his resignation Nov. 4 and it was accepted, effective immediately.

Terrence Donilon, spokesman for the Boston Archdiocese, told Catholic News Service the column was pulled because Avila "retracted it and apologized and because it simply should not have been printed/published in The Pilot."

"It is not the position of the archdiocese or the church and is simply wrong," he said in a Nov. 3 email.

GET ME OUTTA HERE!

Yesterday Grandmére Mimi sent me this photo of yours truly that I had no idea existed.

It was taken during my trip around Scotland with Mimi and Cathy last year on the day before I was relieved of my chauffeur duties and allowed to return home to my loving wife. As you can see the stress of coping with those two for nearly two weeks (especially Mimi who would never do as she was told) has obviously got to me big time by this point. The truth is if anyone even mentions the word "Scotland" I still start shaking uncontrollably. It's post traumatic stress disorder, tht's what it is. I ought to sue and I would if Mimi didn't have that stuff on me that I don't really want to become public knowledge.

LOUD FRIDAY

This is OCICBW...'s contribution to PADRE MICKEY'S DANCE PARTY 5th. Blogoversary celebrations - a chunk of loud, analogue, electro minimalism. It's brand new stuff but I'm hoping it will jog some of those happy memories of El Padre's, now far distant, Sheffieldphile youth buried deep within his massive brain.

THE ARROGANCE OF THE ENGLISH
WILL DESTROY THEIR CHURCH

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the No Anglican Covenant Coalition. This is an international movement and in provinces such as the USA and New Zealand the campaigners have much to be optimistic about. But the truth is, in England, the dioceses appear to be overwhelmingly going for the idea of giving up their independence in favour of being told how to think and what they can do by the most reactionary and bigoted factions in the Anglican Communion. Furthermore, and this is most tragic, the laity of the Church of England and its parish clergy seem to be content to hand over all their previously hard won rights of participation in the management of their church to the bishops, and more so to the primates, which is, of course, the unstated, but primary, aim of the Covenant's episcopal backers.

The Coalition is up against a hierarchy that is determined to rig the debate in its own favour. The bishops are using all the official means and resources at their disposal to propagate the propaganda of the pro-Covenant argument whilst suppressing, through inaction, the arguments of those against it. At the official meetings bishops are making sure they get to speak last and they are speaking, not as individuals, but on behalf of the Church as if the Covenant had already been accepted as writ by General Synod and just needs the approval of the rank of file.

But I think there is another influence on the way the voting is going. For years I have been saying that the best way to get the laity of the Church of England to reject the Covenant is to make them understand that accepting it will result in them giving up their provincial independence. The thing is, although this fact is being stated, I don't think the laity are taking it into account. I think this is because they really don't believe that foreigners will want to contradict the English and, so, everything will just continue as it always has done. Our laity are still living as if the other provinces of the Anglican Communion are part of a British Empire in which its subjects all believe in the natural superiority of the English and that the English always know best. I am pretty certain that the reason so many Church of England bishops, including the archbishops, got so upset about the US Episcopal Church's decision to treat gay people as human beings and children of God, was nothing to do with TEC's rejection of institutionalised bigotry and everything to do with the fact that "a bunch of foreigners" had dared to do something without the permission of the English.

That the Church of England is run by arrogant people who care little for the beliefs and ideals of the masses has been well proven by what's been going down at St. Paul's Cathedral recently. I can imagine certain participants in this embarrassing revelation of the Anglican hierarchy's priorities going home to their partners and crying, "Why don't they just do as we tell them anymore?"

It's a new world. It's an old church. Irrelevancy for the Church not only beckons, it may well be here already.

From THE BBC:

The demand for rhino horns has led to record poaching this year in South Africa. 341 rhinos have been killed so far in 2011, already outstripping last year's record total of 333. The spike in poaching in Africa and South Asia is largely caused by increased demand for rhino horn in Vietnamese traditional medicine.

DON'T BLAME MADPRIEST, BLAME ELLIE

Jennifer visited a psychic of some local repute. In a dark and hazy room, peering into a crystal ball, the mystic delivered grave news: “There’s no easy way to say this, so I’ll just be blunt - prepare yourself to be a widow. Your husband will die a violent and horrible death this year.”

Visibly shaken, Jennifer stared at the woman’s lined face, then at the single flickering candle, then down at her hands. She took a few deep breaths to compose herself.

She simply had to know. She met the fortune teller’s gaze, steadied her voice, and asked: “Will I be acquitted?”

TIME IN A BOTTLE

From INQUIRER NEWS:

Fr. Jason Dy of Sacred Heart Parish channeled his passion for art and role as pastor in a project that uses recycled bottles as personalized memorabilia. He introduced this interactive art project to parishioners in 2009. He distributed empty recycled bottles inviting people to create a “bottled memory.”

“The usual things people do for All Souls’ Day is to write on envelopes and submit names for prayers, but we wanted to make it more creative and interactive,” he said.

Dy also makes his own “bottled memories,” which he offers to victims of child abuse and exploitation, victims of natural calamities, war and conflict, famine and sickness and modern-day saints and heroes.

COMMENT: Now that is imaginative and creative. Just like God. So may God bless Father Dy and his work. Mind you an All Souls service presided over by a priest called "Dy" is a bit halloweenish, don't you think?

JESUS AND MARY PASS SCREEN TEST

From KRGV (Rio Grande Valley, Texas):

Maria Elena Graciano says the Catholic symbols of Jesus and his mother Mary appeared in a screen door at her home in Pharr.

"God is here with us on earth. Many people don't believe that. And he's here with his son,” says Graciano.

For six years, she kept quiet. She didn't think people would believe. On Tuesday, All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation for Catholics, she shared the symbols.

“If you want to come and see, come and see, but please don't to leave any money. I don't want money. If you want, you can leave a rose,” says Graciano.

Yep. I can see both of them. It's definitely worth a rose.

MADPRIEST'S MONTHLY BEGGING POST

Yes, it's the beginning of the month again and the bills are coming in. This month there's a rather important financial burden looming. It's nearly Christmas and if I don't get Mrs. MP a "satisfactory" present then there will be NO MORE OCICBW... as I will be living in the backyard with no access to a computer.

So, if you do not already support my ministry (and many of you do, very generously) and you can afford it, please consider sending a small donation my way, either as a one off or as a monthly subscription. I'm afraid all you will get in return is a limited addition photoshop of the month and my promise that I will remain committed to producing fun and serious stuff for your enjoyment at St. Laika's and on my blog.

You can donate anything from £1 upwards on a monthly basis or make a one off donation. Simply use the widgets below to do so. You do not even need a PayPal account of your own.

ST. LAIKA'S DAY LITURGY

On this day in 1957 Laika was sent into space where she died.

We commemorate Our Little Lady's to remind ourselves of the fact that humans so often let down, and are unfaithful to, those who love us, both our human friends and our animal companions. We celebrate St. Laika's Day with gratefulness that God is for ever faithful to us and has given us signs of God's faithfulness in the animals with whom we share creation.

All are welcome to join me in taking communion. There are no exceptions.

The order of service is posted beneath the audio file so that you can join in with the service. The words in bold type are the ones we say together.

If you want to physically partake of communion you will require a small piece of bread and a small amount of drink (preferably made from grapes and containing alcohol). You eat the bread after I say “The body of Christ,” and drink the wine after I say “The blood of Christ.” How you view the nature of this part of the service is completely up to you.

INTRODUCTION

"Let all the world" - Choir of The King's School

Let all the world in every corner sing
'My God and King!'
The heavens are not too high
His praise may thither fly
The earth is not too low
His praises there may grow
Let all the world in every corner sing
'My God and King!'

Let all the world in every corner sing
'My God and King!'
The Church with psalms must shout
No door can keep them out
But, above all, the heart
Must bear the longest part
Let all the world in every corner sing
'My God and King!'

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

"Hills of the North, rejoice" - Belfast Cathedral Choir

Hills of the North, rejoice;
River and mountain spring,
Hark to the advent voice;
Valley and lowland, sing;
Though absent long, your Lord is nigh;
He judgment brings and victory.

Isles of the southern seas,
Deep in your coral caves
Pent be each warring breeze,
Lulled be your restless waves:
He comes to reign with boundless sway,
And makes your wastes His great highway.

Lands of the East, awake,
Soon shall your sons be free;
The sleep of ages break,
And rise to liberty.
On your far hills, long cold and gray,
Has dawned the everlasting day.

Shores of the utmost West,
Ye that have waited long,
Unvisited, unblest,
Break forth to swelling song;
High raise the note, that Jesus died,
Yet lives and reigns, the Crucified.

Shout, while ye journey home;
Songs be in every mouth;
Lo, from the North we come,
From East, and West, and South.
City of God, the bond are free,
We come to live and reign in thee!

Alleluia, alleluia.
All nations will come
and worship before you.

"All creatures of our God and King" - Patty Griffin

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

SENTENCE

Holy God, you have established your covenant with us…
…without you, all the creatures of the earth would perish.

All these living creatures you have put under our protection and we are to care for them as you care for us. But we know we have often treated creatures in our power wantonly, selfishly and thoughtlessly. We have thought of them only as objects for our amusement and pleasure; we have neglected their true needs; we have betrayed your trust. For these sins, gracious God, we are truly sorry. We ask your pardon and forgiveness.

May God the Creator accept your repentance and grant your forgiveness.

Mindful of the great responsibility you have placed upon us, we now renew our covenant with these creatures in our care, and pray that we may be faithful to them as you are faithful to us. May the unity of peace which you have established between ourselves and our companions never be broken by our violence and may our lives reflect that generosity of spirit which we see manifest in your Son, Jesus Christ.

Will you be mindful of their Christlike vulnerability?

Will you love and protect them as long as they live.
I will with God's grace.

Will you be faithful and kind in good times and bad.
I promise to be so faithful.

Eternal Father,
we thank you for these creatures who live alongside us as our companions and our friends; for their loyalty, love and trust which enrich our lives and give us joy. We ask these prayers through your Son, Jesus Christ whose new covenant of love gives life to us all. Amen.

THE PEACE

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

The Spirit of the Lord is with us
and with all creation.

Let us praise our creator
and give thanks for the wonderful earth.

Let us sing a song of praise with the whole creation.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Lord and heavenly Father…
and join with all creatures in these words of eternal praise:

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty, heaven and earth are full of your glory now and for ever. Amen.

Uniting our prayers with the whole company of heaven,
let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

We break this bread
to share in the body of Christ.
Though we are many, we are one body,
because we all share in one bread.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
grant us peace.

This is the Lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world.
Blessed are those who are called to his supper.
Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,
but only say the word, and I shall be healed.

The body of Christ. Amen.

The blood of Christ. Amen.

"In The Falling Dark" - Bruce Cockburn

Father of all, we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far off you met us in your Son and brought us home. Dying and living, he declared your love, gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory. May we who share Christ’s body live his risen life; we who drink his cup bring life to others; we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world. Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us, so we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name; through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

"All God's Critters Got A Place In The Choir" - Janice Buckner

May God bless you with a compassionate heart that feels the injustice of the world and help you to strive towards that peaceable kingdom in which all God's creatures shall be free from pain and alive with their Lord and maker for all eternity. Amen.

My sisters and brothers Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
In the name of Christ.  Amen.

Congratulations to Gene Robinson who yesterday celebrated the eighth anniversary of becoming bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire. For the better part of 7 years, I have been in a relationship with a sweet, wonderful and loving young man. As all relationships do, we have had ups and downs over the years and we grew apart over the past year and a half while he took care of his Dad back east. When he returned, we decided that he should live on his own so he could grow and mature as an individual. This further precipitated our growing apart. About two weeks ago, we got together and spent the day. During that time, we talked a lot about each of us as well as 'us' and we both decided it was best that we should look towards NOT getting back together as a couple, but find folks who are more in tune with where we are and are going. In truth, it was more of an acknowledgment of the facts on the ground than anything else.

IT'S OFFICIAL!
CHURCH OF ENGLAND HATES GAY PEOPLE.
"I WAS ONLY KIDDING ABOUT THEM
BEING HUMAN" ADMITS GRAND TUFTI

From THE GUARDIAN:

Gay and lesbian couples can, from 5 December, celebrate their big day in religious premises opting into a new scheme. But the Church of England has warned that its clergy should not provide services of blessing for same-sex couples.

A spokesman said: "The Church of England has no intention of allowing civil partnerships to be registered in its churches."

COMMENT: Who is this spokesman for the Church of England? Is he like the pope and can decree that something can never happen? I thought we had synods to decide on such matters.

You know, sometimes, being an inhibited priest who is not legally allowed to be on any electoral roll or vote in any of the Church of England's instruments of governance, is quite a blessing. At least nobody can blame me for this homophobic, un-Christlike rhetoric of hate. All of my former colleagues are, however, tarred with the same brush as the bigots. They are like the prison guards "only following orders" in Auschwitz. All of them, that is, other than those with integrity who do a Giles Fraser and resign. I mean, does Jesus really love a few rich kids camping out in the city more than he loves gay people?

I notice the Grand Tufti is putting up a smokescreen to protect himself from further accusations of bigotry by having a go at bankers. Bit of an easy target, your Grace, and I notice you waited to see which way the media wind was blowing before you decided to be oh so shocked by the greed of your friends in the city.

GREETING

INVITATION TO CONFESSION

Father eternal, giver of light and grace, we have sinned against you and against our neighbour, in what we have thought, in what we have said and done, through ignorance, through weakness, through our own deliberate fault. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, who died for us, forgive us all that is past; and lead us out from darkness to walk as children of light. Amen

where there will be neither sorrow nor pain,
but life everlasting.
Alleluia. Amen.

Massive respect due to Padre Mickey whose world famous PADRE MICKEY'S DANCE PARTY blog celebrated five whole years of being among us on Monday. Prayers also for our friend who is still struggling to find a post in the States and is getting kicked back because of the "directness" of his blog.

FOR YOUR PRAYERS

From Lori:

Can you please add my son Daniel and his company to the prayer list. They are exiting Iraq and on Nov 1st, the Iraqi army will be joining their base. Please pray that the transition goes peaceful so there is no harm on either side. He thinks they will be home by Christmas.

Posted at MAD PADRE:

Master Corporal Byron Greff, of the 3rd Battalion, PPCLI, was the first Canadian soldier to be killed since the end of the combat mission, centered in Kandahar, this July. Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon him.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFT

The Lord is here.
God's Spirit is with us.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is truly right and just…
…forever praising you and saying:

Holy, holy, holy Lord!  God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!

We praise and bless you, loving Father…
…until he comes in glory.

Great is the mystery of faith.
Christ has died,
Christ is risen,
Christ will come again.

Lord of all life…
…for ever and ever. Amen.
With saints and martyrs through the ages, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
grant us peace.

I heard the voice of a great multitude crying, ‘Alleluia.’
The Lord our God has entered into his kingdom.
All Blessed are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb.

The body of Christ. Amen.

The blood of Christ. Amen.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER

"For All The Saints" - St Edmundsbury Cathedral Choir

For all the saints, who from their labours rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confest,
Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well fought fight;
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
And win with them the victor’s crown of gold.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of glory passes on His way.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast,
Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
And singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, Alleluia!

O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
All are one in Thee, for all are Thine.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
Steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
And hearts are brave, again, and arms are strong.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

The golden evening brightens in the west;
Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;
Sweet is the calm of paradise the blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised:
All there is no end of his greatness.

One generation shall praise your works to another
All and shall declare your power.

All your works praise you, Lord,
All and your faithful servants bless you.

They make known the glory of your kingdom
All and speak of your power.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord:
All let everything bless his holy name for ever and ever.

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John.
All Glory to you, O Lord.

DISMISSAL GOSPEL

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, O Christ.

THE BLESSING

My sisters and brothers, Following God’s saints in the ways of holiness and truth,
go in the peace of Christ.
Thanks be to God.

COWS TAKE NOTE

MADPRIEST'S WORST NIGHTMARE COMES TRUE

MAD DAD'S JOKE OF THE DAY (ALTERED BY
MADPRIEST FOR THE AMERICAN AUDIENCE)

An elderly Italian, spinster lady who lived on the outskirts of Rimini, Italy, went to the local church for confession.

When the priest slid open the panel in the confessional, the woman said: "Father, I've had something on my conscience for many years. During World War II, a young, handsome Jewish man from our neighbourhood knocked urgently on my door and asked me to hide him from the Nazis. So I hid him in my attic."

The priest replied: "That was a wonderful thing you did, and you have no need to confess that."

"There is more to tell, Father. He started to repay me with sexual favours. This happened several times a week, and sometimes twice on Sundays.'

The priest said, "That was a long time ago and by doing what you did, you placed the two of you in great danger, but two people under those circumstances can easily succumb to the weakness of the flesh. However, if you are truly sorry for your actions, you are indeed forgiven."

"Thank you, Father. That's a great load off my mind. I do have one more question."

"And what is that?" asked the priest.

"Should I tell him the war is over?"

"Chorales, Op. 28, No. 22" by Marcel Dupre - George Baker

INTRODUCTION

"Ach Bleib Bei Uns, Herr Jesu Christ" - Grosse Geistliche Chore

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Beloved in the Lord, let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins to God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness.

Our help is in the name of the Lord.
Who made heaven and earth.

I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,
And You forgive the iniquity of my sin.

O Almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess to You all my sins and iniquities, with which I have ever offended You and justly deserve Your temporal and eternal punishment.  But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them; and I pray You, of Your boundless mercy, and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter suffering and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being.

Upon this, your confession, I, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God to all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

OFFERING

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from Thy presence
And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.

Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation
And uphold me with Thy free spirit.  Amen.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

INTERCESSIONS

Lord God, as we prepare to receive the holy Sacrament...
…all glory and honour is Yours, Almighty Father, forever and ever. Amen.

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.

Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up unto the Lord!

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is meet and right so to do.

It is truly right and good…
...for ever praising you and saying

Holy, holy, holy Lord God of Sabaoth!
Heaven and earth are full of Thy glory!
Hosanna!  Hosanna!  Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is He!  Blessed is He!
Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna!  Hosanna!  Hosanna in the highest!

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever!  Amen!

Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said:

TAKE, EAT.  THIS IS MY BODY WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU. THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying:

DRINK OF IT, ALL OF YOU. THIS CUP IS THE NEW TESTAMENT IN MY + BLOOD, WHICH IS SHED FOR YOU, FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. THIS DO AS OFTEN AS YOU DRINK IT, IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

The peace of the Lord be with you always. Amen!

"Qui Tollis Peccata Mundi" from "Mass, Bwv234"
by Johann Sebastian Bach - The Purcell Quartet

Almighty Lord Jesus Christ, as often as I shall come to Your holy table to refresh my spirit, I pray You to make me, unworthy as I am, worthy through Your grace; impure as I am, to make me clean; naked as I am to clothe me, so that Your Body, so full of divine power, and Your most precious Blood may not become for me, Your servant, the occasion for judgment or punishment, but a memorial of the death You underwent for me, a strengthening of my faith, a proof of the taking away of my sins, a bond of closer union with You and Your people, an increase of holiness, the basis of a glad resurrection, and a pledge of everlasting life. Amen.

"Vater Unser Im Himmelreich: Versus 1: Vater Unser Im Himmelr" - Vox Luminis

Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace according to Thy Word, for mine eyes have seen Thy salvation, which Thou hast prepared before the face of all people. A Light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of Thy people Israel. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
And His mercy endures forever.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.

Bless we the Lord!
Thanks be to God.

The Lord bless you and keep you!
The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you!

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace!
Amen!  Amen!  Amen!
