Exactly, Lois. We're used to passive aggressive. But Jesus was aggressive passive. He turned the other cheek but, to be honest, he started most of the fights in the first place. I can empathise with that.
Ah. Well, because I get very pissed-off whenever I see someone confuse "passive" w/ "pacifist" (I've even seen it spelled "passivist"! >:-0), I don't see the link otherwise.
I think he was passive at times. Whether or not he was a pacifist is harder to tell. Yes, there's the turn the other cheek stuff. But there was also a lot about swords and stuff.
Hmmm, I would say very "assertive", but not aggressive. [I'll let someone else to the etymology for the difference. ;-/]
ReplyDeleteDear JCF, I read it as a play on passive/aggressive, passive/passive, aggressive/passive, aggressive/aggressive, etc. OCICBW...
ReplyDelete...and, of course, the wv for this reply is "dictions"!

ReplyDeleteJesus wasn't "passive" anything!

ReplyDeleteJesus beat the hell out of money changers in the Temple in at least one account, with a whip of cords.
ReplyDeleteInsipid Jesus is an idol.
