"The MC5 were such a powerful musical/spirit force to reckon with, and so very influential to all who witnessed their might, that it is a sad day when half of their incredible rhythm section is gone. Michael was a dedicated musician and a good man. In our Motor City musical wind, he will always be alive and kickin' out the jams." -Ted Nugent

  2. Well, yes. It's just a shame that Ted Nugent didn't bother to get on message when the MC5 were preaching rebellion against the man. Is there a rock star who is more of an antithesis to all that rock and roll stands for than the Amboy Dukes' animal torturing Republican? I think not.

  3. I saw the Michael Davis obit earlier this week, and wondered if you would commemorate him. Thanks, MP.

May all the departed, by the grace of God, rest in peace (and make music in glory!).

As for Ted Nugent: I believe I've recounted here the very unfortunate breakfast I ate in a diner, w/ him a couple tables away, *loudly* spewing racist BS. So glad he left (my then home of) Michigan for Texas not long thereafter: they can keep him! Blech! }-0<<

  4. I really like the Dory Previn track.

"I have ridden comet tails in search of magic rings..."

  5. I love it too, Gina. I bought the album back in the 1970s. I didn't realise that Dory was so old.

  6. When I first saw the photo you posted, I thought that Mia Farrow had died. There is resemblance to the young Mia.

Oh, and the second cut was nice, too but I have a short attention span these days and didn't go on to listen to the entire hipcast.

  7. Have I made a mistake, Susan. It certainly looks like Mia .

  8. It is Mia! Did you intend it to be? Thisis the young Dory Previn. I think you will agree they look nothing alike.

  9. Of course, I didn't intend it to be! Sometimes images are mislabelled on Google and I make mistakes. Thank you for the correct photo. I have replaced Mia.

  10. Well, I didn't think you would on one of these musician memorial pages. It's just sometimes you can be pretty snarky, you know! And I saw that same image mislabeled when I googled her. I can actually remember when Mia looked like that. I think it was when she was married to Frank Sinatra for about 3 days.

Behold, the Nuge, a man in whom there is no guile.

  12. What's the relationship between Dory Previn and Mia Farrow? Mia was married to Andre Previn, right? Is Andre Dory's brother, or???

  13. Dory and Andre were married for some time. Then they divorced and pretty soon after, Andre married Mia. Dory blamed Mia for the breakup of their marriage. So no, they weren't brother and sister.

  14. Well done, you two. You have explained everything.

  15. And a bit of Loud Friday at the end - excellent set, MP. Thanks.

(O God, the wv is just not fun anymore. Here goes...)
