I stopped in Scotland twice when I was in the Navy on a submarine (In May in Edinburgh on the way out and in July in Faslane on the way back). I recall one of the locals saying that in Scotland there were two basic weather reports: It was either raining or it was going to rain.
Oddly enough both times the weather was just fine; in fact for our days in Ediburgh there was hardly a cloud in the sky and the park at the base of the castle was packed.
Everyone needs a day of rest, even on vacation!
