| A typical Pastafarian Typically not getting a lot of sex |
Motor vehicle workers in New Jersey called the police on a man who refused to take a spaghetti strainer off his head while taking his driver's license photo.
The man said he was a Pastafarian, a group that's against teaching creationism in schools.
Aaron Williams said his strainer was a religious head covering and that he had a right to wear it.
Police informed Williams that a pasta strainer was not approved by the MVC and convinced him to take the photo without it. The incident occurred on February 2.

Persecution! Persecution!
ReplyDeleteIs it a national sport? At the end of the year does the ideology that can prove itself to be the most persecuted get a prize?
DeleteIt would seem that way, MP.
DeleteFour letters, first letter "t" and last letter 't".
ReplyDeleteTort---as in watch out he don't SUE you, MP (that's the way we Yanks roll!).
He certainly puts the lie to the statements made by other Atheists that they are all highly intelligent.
ReplyDeleteYes. The word "evolution" hardly applies in his case.
DeleteSorry, but mocking someone's religion as a lifestyle makes people like him no different than the Teapublicans who deride "liberal" churches and Islam.
ReplyDeleteI think he's a dork rather than a nerd.
ReplyDelete"Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"
ReplyDeleteAnd, for the record, Padre Mickey is correct. Probably a dork....POSSIBLY a dweeb. Very definitely not a nerd.
(For those who need it, here is a visual explanation)
We're lazy in England. We don't have all the sub groups. In fact, "nerd" is probably too American. In English this bloke would be just a straightforward twat.
DeleteI guess I'm going to have to be the odd woman out, here. I support him. The Pastafarian movement exists to protest the teaching of creationism in public schools and every time anyone calls attention to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, at least a few more people will learn how the parody religion was founded.
ReplyDeleteI really cannot express adequately enough how dismayed I am by the appalling lowering of standards in science teaching here in the U.S. It is going to have VERY dire consequences in the near future. (In fact, the consequences are already dire enough.)
Yes, and that is all well and good until some idiot comes along and starts acting like the idiots he is supposed to be parodying. It's like me joining a search committee and insisting that the next incumbent is a babelicious woman.
DeleteThey have some interesting sayings like, "It is harder for a head to pass through the strainer than for a creationist to find enlightenment".
ReplyDeleteAnd, "Al dente comes from within the heart."
My favourite is, "We are not saved by our sauces, (no matter how rich), but by our al dente."
